Octeasy for low vision
The "See better" profile enlarges the text, switches to a highly legible font, underlines links and makes the keyboard focus and the cursor easy to see. Visitors can also turn on the magnifier, stronger contrast or read aloud.
In the panel, choose the "See better" profile.
What the "See better" profile turns on
- Text enlarged to 130%
- Highly legible font (Atkinson Hyperlegible)
- Underlined links
- Strong keyboard focus
- Big black cursor
What your site needs to do on its side
- Keep enough contrast between text and background: at least 4.5 to 1 for body text (WCAG 1.4.3).
- Allow text to be enlarged up to 200% without losing content (WCAG 1.4.4).
- Give a text alternative for every image that carries information.
- Do not convey information through colour alone.
The limits, honestly
- Blind people use a screen reader: the widget does not replace it and must not get in its way. For them, what matters is the quality of the site's code.
- Enlarged text applies to the site's pages, not to content in external frames (videos, maps).
- Octeasy does not make a site meet accessibility standards such as WCAG or the French accessibility standard (RGAA), and does not replace an audit. What Octeasy does not do.
The other profiles
- Read easily (Dyslexia)
- Stay focused (ADHD, attention disorders)
- Understand easily (Cognitive disorders, memory)
- Avoid motion (Epilepsy, migraine, vertigo)
- Reduce light (Photophobia, headaches)
- Click easily (Tremors, keyboard only)
- Senior comfort (Presbyopia, ageing eyes)
